Abstract
Our bloodstream is considered to be an environment well separated from the outside world and the digestive tract. According to the standard paradigm large macromolecules consumed with food cannot pass directly to the circulatory system. During digestion proteins and DNA are thought to be degraded into small constituents, amino acids and nucleic acids, respectively, and then absorbed by a complex active process and distributed to various parts of the body through the circulation system. Here, based on the analysis of over 1000 human samples from four independent studies, we report evidence that meal-derived DNA fragments which are large enough to carry complete genes can avoid degradation and through an unknown mechanism enter the human circulation system. In one of the blood samples the relative concentration of plant DNA is higher than the human DNA. The plant DNA concentration shows a surprisingly precise lognormal distribution in the plasma samples while non-plasma (cord blood) control sample was found to be free of plant DNA.

Hierin spreken de wetenschappers hun ernstige bezorgdheid uit tegen gentech voedsel. Dit werd later op grote schaal in de doofpot gestopt.

1977: Nederlandse wetenschappers zijn het niet met elkaar eens… hoogleraren Lucas Reijnders contra Piet Borst (zwager van mevrouw Borst, overleden minister van Staat, die tijdens een overleg biotechnologie in de 2de Kamer (1999, 14 april) sterk pleitte voor gentechnologie bij ziekten, vooral bij kanker en over de bevindingen van Dr. Pusztai zei: “Ach die sneeuwklokjes…” (De Gentechvrije Burgers waren aanwezig).

Blz 30 Fragment: Lucas Reijnders, onderzoeker aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en medeauteur van het tegenrapport heeft kort daarvoor zijn visie op het recombinant-DNA onderzoek in het KNAW-blad Bio-Bulletin gegeven 24. Hij is van mening dat de basisfilosofie van het advies Bootsma niet deugt. De risicoanalyses zijn gebrekkig, er wordt geen rekening gehouden met menselijke fouten in het hanteren van de veiligheidsvoorschriften en er is een gemis aan evolutionair besef van de betekenis van kleine veranderingen in erfelijk materiaal van organismen. Hoewel hij stelt dat de kans op onprettige verrassingen naar zijn gevoel in de praktijk wel mee zal vallen pleit Reijnders voor indeling van al het recombinant-DNA onderzoek in de hoogste risicocategorie. Dit standpunt blijft hij later volhouden, tot ergernis van veel vooruitgangsdenkers. Bootsma en Borst die in hetzelfde Bio-Bulletin aan het woord komen zien daarentegen geen wezenlijk onderscheid tussen gangbaar biologisch en recombinant-DNA onderzoek.
Blz 34 Fragment: Dat de aandacht van het publiek voor recombinant-DNA onderzoek toeneemt, blijkt uit de toenemende interesse van kranten en weekbladen die in deze periode, zij het nog mondjesmaat, artikelen over het onderwerp publiceren. Zo wijdt Elseviers Magazine haar titelpagina in augustus 1977 aan het recombinant-DNAonderzoek. 31. Zowel Borst als Reijnders worden aan het woord gelaten. Reijnders stelt dat het nut van de proeven erg klein is en erg ver weg ligt. Hij denkt dat de vooruitgang op bijvoorbeeld het gebied van kankerbestrijding ook op andere manieren te realiseren is . Borst vindt dat Reijnders “uit zijn nekharen kletst” wanneer Reijnders stelt dat kanker beter bestreden kan worden door alle kankerverwekkende stoffen uit het milieu te verwijderen. Zijn inziens is het zinvoller te achterhalen hoe kanker precies wordt veroorzaakt. Een dieper inzicht in het ontstaan van kanker zou een triomf voor de mensheid zijn. “Ik heb zelf een vast vertrouwen dat het verhoogde inzicht tot veel toepassingsmogelijkheden in de geneeskunde zal leiden.” In Borst en Reijnders zijn twee uitgesproken vertegenwoordigers van de vooruitgangsdenkers en de natuurbewaarders aan het woord.
Onderzoeken:
Reeds in 2009 waren er 90 onderzoeken gepubliceerd , die bewijzen dat de bezorgdheid van wetenschappers, dat gentech onzorgvuldig en onvoorspelbaar is, die zij al in 1990 uitten, terecht is.
Zij waarschuwden dat:
- Genetische manipulatie, voedsel zou kunnen scheppen dat giftig, allergeen en minder voedzaam dan haar niet-gentech-tegenhanger is,
- Gentech gewassen kwetsbare wilde planten en dieren zouden kunnen beschadigen en biodiversiteit zouden kunnen schaden.
- Gentech planten niet teruggehaald kunnen worden als ze eenmaal in het milieu worden losgelaten, maar zich als levende organismen zullen vermenigvuldigen, elke beschadigde eigenschap van generatie tot generatie doorgevend.
- Gentech gewassen onomkeerbare veranderingen zouden kunnen veroorzaken in onze voedselvoorziening met ernstige effecten op het milieu en menselijke en dierlijke gezondheid.
- Verschillende eerste generatie gentech gewassen hebben een ingebouwde resistentie tegen zeer giftige bestrijdingsmiddelen. Eén middel, GLA, is zelfs nu door de EU verboden.

Today, Indian cotton farmers are facing a genocide that has resulted in the death of at least 300,000 of their brothers and sisters between 1995 and 2013 , averaging 14,462 per year (1995-2000) and 16,743 per year (2001-2011). This epidemic began in the cotton belt, in Maharashtra, where 53,818 farmers have taken their lives. Monsanto, on it’s own website , admits that pink bollworm “resistance [to Bt] is natural and expected” and that the resistance to Bt “posed a significant threat to the nearly 5 million farmers who were planting the product in India.” Eighty four percent of the farmer suicides have been attributed to Monsanto’s Bt Cotton, placing the corporation’s greed and lawlessness at the heart of India’s agrarian crisis.
