Vergunningaanvraag
Op 25 september 2019 heeft het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat (hierna: IenW) van Photanol B.V. te Amsterdam een vergunningaanvraag op grond van het Besluit genetisch gemodificeerde organismen milieubeheer 2013 (hierna: Besluit ggo) ontvangen voor introductie in het milieu van genetisch gemodificeerde organismen. De aanvraag is geregistreerd met het kenmerk GGO IM-L 19-001. Meer.

Mart Smeets over 5G, nare grap

Wij stuurden een artikel van Facebook door waarin werd vermeld dat Mart Smeets een lezing zou houden over 5G in Amsterdam. Dit was helaas een misplaatste grap. Degene die dat op Facebook heeft gezet is bij ons bekend. Excuses aan de betrokkenen.

Olie van gentech sojabonen veroorzaakt bij muizen veranderingen in de hersenen die leiden tot overgewicht en beïnvloeden neurologische condities zoals autisme, Alzheimer, angst en depressie.

Deze gentech olie wordt veel gebruikt bij restaurants, visboeren en dergelijke. Soja olie wordt ook wel “slaolie” genoemd. Als het gentech sojaolie betreft, staat het op de verpakking. Dat is verplicht in de EU. Op het menu hoeft in Nederland niet vermeld te worden dat gentech olie wordt gebruikt. In Duitsland wel.

General description of the product
(a) Name of the recipient or parental plant and the intended function of the genetic modification
SYHT0H2 soybean is a genetically modified soybean that is produced by Agrobacterium tumefaciens–mediated transformation. Where cultivated, the intended function of the genetic modification of SYHT0H2 soybean is to facilitate the control of weeds by providing tolerance to HPPD-inhibiting herbicides, such as mesotrione, and to herbicides containing glufosinate ammonium.

4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) inhibitors (HPPD inhbitors) are a class of herbicides that prevent plants by blocking 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase, an enzyme in plants that breaks down the amino acid tyrosine into molecules that are then used by plants to create other molecules that plants need.

There is a pharmaceutical drug on the market, nitisinone, that was originally under development as an herbicide as a member of this class, and is used to treat an orphan disease, type I tyrosinemia.
