Link between Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller and cancer ‘cannot be ignored’
Last week eight scientists told two California judges that the evidence points them in one direction: Exposure to Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller can cause non-Hodgkin lymphoma (a potentially deadly cancer) in humans.
It’s now up to U.S. District Court Judge Vince Chhabria and California State Court Judge Ioana Petrou to decide whether to believe the scientists and allow hundreds of lawsuits against Monsanto go to trial—or deny cancer victims their day in court, based on Monsanto’s claims that Roundup is safe. Student gaat in tegen pro GGO donaties op zijn universiteit.
Een student van Cornell Universiteit, Robert Schooler, merkte dat zijn universiteit donaties ontving van Monsanto en van andere multinationals. Hij bracht die kennis de wereld in. Maar Cornell bleef donaties ontvangen nu meer dan $6 million van the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, die ook een warm voorstander is van gentech. Zijn nieuwste actie is het maken van een film project.

Bananen zijn in grote delen van dit land van oudsher het hoofdvoedsel, en dan niet de gele, zoete bananen maar de groene, stevige kookbananen – matooke, in de lokale taal Luganda. De gemodificeerde bananen in het lab van Stephen Buah zijn dan ook matooke.
Deze groene banaan is het hoofdvoedsel van de Oegandezen.
Het lab krijgt geld van de Bill Gates Foundation. In Oeganda is gentech verboden. Maar in dit lab mag men wel genetisch manipuleren, echter niet proeven.
